The Sherlock Holmes of France Society

Created in 1993, "la Société Sherlock Holmes de France" (The French Sherlock Holmes Society) is also known as "Quincaillerie de la Franco-Midland" (Franco-Midland Hardware Company). It follows after the late "Société des Amis d'Henry Fournaye" (The Henry Fournaye's Friends Society).

Member of the society, you can become "Employé de la Quincaillerie" (Shop assistant Ironmonger) "Résident patient" (Patient resident), Retiré des affaires (Retired of business) or "Groom".

The Sherlock Holmes's "Légion d'Honneur"

The "légion d'honneur" is the highest french decoration. It was created by Napoléon Ier, in18xx. Do you know that Sherlock Holmes had received this medal? In "The golden Pince-Nez", Dr Watson relates our detective had tracked and arrested "Huret, the Boulevard assassin (an exploit which won for Holmes an autograph letter of thanks from the French President and the Order of the Legion of Honour)".

But Holmes had never officialy recived this decoration.

The "Société Sherlock Holmes de France" had planed to decorate Jeremy Brett, the famous british actor and talented Sherlock Holmes in the Granada's episods. Alas, Jeremy Brett disappeared in september 1995, and this great plan fall through.
